A fruit producing business of significant size is on the market for realisation as a going concern, in Australia’s New South Wales.

Established in 1982, Back o’ Bourke Fruits Pty Ltd’s main products are table grapes, melons, mandarins and oranges, which are sold domestically and also exported to Asian markets, including Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.

The property covers 935 hectares near Bourke in the north-west of NSW, consisting of 104ha of citrus, including mandarins and oranges, and 135ha of table grape vines.

The company has frontage on the Darling River and an irrigation licence for 4100 megalitres of water.

It also boasts an extensive and sophisticated irrigation system with 59ha of sub-surface drip irrigation, 31ha of potential irrigation-developed land with underground mains, some 210ha of support land with development potential, and nearly 400ha of flood plain country for grazing.

Infrastructure includes several residential buildings and a 1300 square metre packing shed and equipment, and the company recently introduced Near InfraRed (NIR) scanning to its operation, enabling it to guarantee a level of sweetness in its fruit, that will attract premium prices.

A marketing campaign has begun with advertising in regional, rural and national media, along with promotion overseas.
