Rainfall in Australia’s Goulburn Valley over the weekend has destroyed part of the region’s peach crop.

Up to 100 millimetres of rain was recorded in the region, in north-east Victoria, over the past three days.

The rain is good for top fruit, but caused some plums to split and knocked many peaches off the trees.

Mooroopna orchardist Peter Hall says that although the peach loss is disappointing, he will cope because he has other fruit crops.

"It's a regular part of farming; you get weather events that affect what you do...a good orchardist will manage his way through that," he said.
