Mexican mangoes make new record

Mexican mango exports reached a value of $189 million in 2011, which represents a 23 per cent increase against the previous year, new figures show.

It was a record year for both volume and value. Mexico exports almost one in five tonnes (18 per cent) of its mango production, meaning one in 20 mangoes consumed worldwide come from the country.

Mexico is second in the list of global exporters after India.
