New Zealand kiwifruit production

The New Zealand kiwifruit industry has rated its performance on the international stage at 7.4 from a possible 10 marks at the recent industry conference in Rotorua.

Some 320 growers and industry stakeholders gathered at the event, which also saw visitors rating the industry's performance against other primary production sectors such as meat and dairy, Radio New Zealand reported.

Business commentator Rod Oram led the conference, and said that the participants rated the kiwifruit industry favourably when compared with the meat (3.4 out of 10) and dairy (7 out of 10) sectors.

He added that is was important to note how well global strategy was performing compared with these sectors, and said that the kiwifruit industry was ahead due to its global ambitions and success.
