New Zealand fresh produce

New Zealand growers expect some fresh vegetables to be in short supply, with prices high until Christmas, as a result of recent inclement weather damaging crops, reports Radio NZ.

Heavy rains and high winds have affected the new potato crop in Pukekohe, and Gisborne could lose its latest crop of sweetcorn, onions, lettuce and tomatoes to flooding, the Radio NZ report said.

Horticulture New Zealand told Radio NZ that many growers will have a lot less to sell, and that supplies will be affected until Christmas.
