Fesa

Fesa describes itself as a forward-thinking fresh produce company, and it’s certainly progressed significantly from its formation in 1985 in Cambridge.

It has been expanding both in terms of office space, but also in operations, shifting its focus from being solely an importer, to becoming a grower and developer of different varieties with its partnerships with Anecoop and Agricola Famosa.

The firm, which boasts as one of its directors the current president of the Fresh Produce Consortium, Jim Rogers, claims that this shift in business has given it superior control over the produce it supplies.

This includes a major interest in research into the latest varieties of some of the world’s best-known
fresh produce.

The company says it supports its farmers by sharing pioneering growing techniques that improve yields and reduce pesticide usage.

It has also branched out into storage services, offering chilled and ambient facilities, which it continues to invest in with a rolling programme of upgrades.

The company points out that given its research and sourcing, it is in a great position to negotiate any weather-related produce problems that may arise. With its handle on world sourcing, Fesa is confident that it will continue to push the high-quality fresh produce agenda within the market.
