AC Foods general manager Andrew Mann, Legacy Packing export manager Greg Asta and sales account manager Julian Bartucca travelled to Vietnam in August to introduce the Dekopon mandarin, marketed as SumoCitrus, to the Asian nation.

Mann says the launch was well received by Vietnamese consumers.

“We identified the demand the local consumer has for a sweet, juicy, easy-peel, seedless mandarin,” explains Mann.

“The main objective was to test the market and deliver our premium SumoCitrus product to the Vietnamese community.”

SumoCitrus is grown across multiple areas in Australia, including Berrigan, New South Wales, and Cobram, Victoria. It is also being grown in the Riverina, Sunraysia and Riverland regions.

AC Foods and Legacy Packing partnered with Austrade, MTV Green Life and Grove Fresh for the launch. The fruit was available at select locations in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi across August and September.

The launch also served as an opportunity to support Australian exporters and their local business partners, increase sales revenue and leverage the international branding of SumoCitrus.
