Co-op has launched a new weekly promotion called ‘Fresh Mondays’, offering shoppers 50 per cent off selected fresh fruit and vegetables.
The promotion will cover a range of fresh produce, including blackberries, strawberries, potatoes, apples, grapes, raspberries, tomatoes, asparagus and peppers.
Products include Co-op Irresistible Exceptionally Sweet Cherry Tomatoes, down from £2.70 to £1.35, and Co-op Hand Picked Blackberries (150g) down from £3.25 to £1.63.
Other branded items are also included in the deal, such as Pink Lady Apples (4 pack), down from £2.85 to £1.43, and Albert Bartlett Home Grown Potatoes (2kg), down from £2.60 to £1.35.
The offer will give customers a predictable weekly opportunity to buy fresh food at a lower price, while potentially supporting greater volumes across the participating lines.
The new initiative was launched alongside at 24-hour discount promotion through Uber Eats on 17 August in which everyday essentials such as bread, eggs and milk were reduced.
Kate McCrae, retail director at Co-op, said the offer was designed to combine the retailer’s rapid delivery capabilities with own-label products and value offers.
The ‘Fresh Mondays’ offer follows the launch of Co-op’s ‘Second Chance Saver Bags’ in June, a joint collboration with Deliveroo offering online shoppers cut-price fruit and veg to help reduce food waste.
