Fischer Farms, the firm behind one of the world’s largest vertical farms, has announced that it has successfully passed its first BRC audit, achieving AA – the highest possible grade.

Awarded by BRCGS (Brand Reputation Compliance Global Standards), the AA grade is a globally recognised benchmark for food safety and quality, demonstrating that Fischer Farms operates to the highest levels of safety, traceability, and compliance.

Fischer Farms currently grows leafy greens and herbs at its 4-acre farm in Norwich, supplying a range of retailers and foodservice providers around the UK.

The company said the milestone marked a ”significant achievement” for the business and ”stands as a testament to the hard work, attention to detail, and dedication of the entire Fischer Farms team”.

“Achieving AA standard in our first BRC audit is a fantastic milestone for us,” explained Chris Kirke, CEO of Fischer Farms.

”It reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence and sets the foundation for further growth and partnerships with leading retailers and food service providers.”

Fischer said the certification not only reinforces its commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, and sustainable produce but also enables the business to expand its reach, offering its vertically farmed produce to even more customers across the UK and beyond.

”As Fischer Farms leads the way in controlled environment agriculture, this achievement underscores its impact on creating a food system that is safe, resilient, and sustainable,” the group added.
