Bagged salad brand Florette has launched #SaladTokIRL, a one-day-only pop-up event, to bring a viral social media salad trend to Londoners.

The social media trend #SaladTok, which refers to the online subculture of recipes, meal-prep tips and hacks around preparing and eating salad, has captured millions of views across TikTok and Instagram.

Inspired by the trend, a free, first-come-first-served pop-up will open at The Good Life Eatery on Marylebone Lane on 28 July. It will offer complimentary “maximalist” salad bowls inspired by the flavour combinations on social media.

The bowls will contain crunchy textures and vibrant toppings, Florette says, with globally inspired flavours and protein-packed ingredients. The launch hopes to inspire visitors to celebrate salads as meals in their own right, celebrating boldly coloured and textured leaves.

The launch accompanies market research from Florette that suggests social media trends are increasingly shaping consumer behaviour, such as their choice of products, restaurants and recipes.

Polly Davies, head of category and marketing at Florette, said: “Social media has completely changed the way people discover food. We’re not just saving recipes anymore – we’re craving them, shopping for them and recreating them in real life.

“Today’s salads are more creative and considered, with standout leaves, texture, toppings and dressings all playing a role. It shows that with Florette, healthy eating can feel abundant, exciting and anything but boring.”

The popular trend has also inspired other retailers to launch socials-related initiatives and products, such as Tesco’s chopped salad kits and salad creations bay.
