The Norfolk Peer potato brand, produced by Heygate Farms Swaffham Ltd, took gold in the ‘Best Plough to Plate Champions’ award at the Eastern Daily Press Food and Drink Awards.
Farm manager William Gribbon introduced the brand some 18 months ago, which is now sold through mainstream retailers and London’s New Covent Garden Wholesale Market.
The ‘Best Plough to Plate Champions’ award recognises businesses with the ability and vision to produce and market quality food products. Judges are looking for growers and producers who are passionate about what they do and have the talent and skill to grow, develop and market an outstanding and commercially scalable food product.
Gribbon commented, “This is a fantastic award for the whole Heygate Farms team. We all work extremely hard to bring our Norfolk Peer new potatoes to the table.
“Whether it’s the people driving the tractors or the staff behind the scenes, this is a great accolade for us all to share.”
