British brand Jazz apple has kicked off the growing season by hosting an event at Kent-based grower Chandler & Dunn last week on October 12.

The event consisted of a tour for visitors around the Chandlers & Dunn orchard, a Q&A and fitness session in the orchard, and a Jazz tasting session.

The event was attended by British track and field athlete and Jazz apple ambassador Jazmin Sawyers, who has won medals at the Commonwealth Games, European Championships and Ultimate Championships, as well as children from a local primary school.

Also in attendance were the newly appointed Jazz Apple Foundation Stars, who are part of the foundation’s initiative to support talented young people and rising stars across the UK in achieving their goals in sport and other areas of ambition.

The brand, who celebrated their 20th anniversary last year, has secured a fifth loyalty spot in the apple category, and is the UK’s fourth largest apple variety.

Last year, the brand featured at the Good Food Show, National Fruit Show, FarmFest, the Great Yorkshire Show and the Great British Food Festival, alongside activations at Waitrose, Morrisons and Asda.

Hannah McIlfatrick, commercial director at Worldwide Fruit, said: “It’s been another hugely busy but positive 12 months for Jazz apple with the 20-year anniversary celebrations providing plenty of opportunities to grow the brand and reach new audiences.

“We’ll be looking to build on the back of last year with another packed calendar of activations to drive trial and awareness of the Jazz apple brand even further,” she added.
