Retailer to make organic produce more accessible as market grows 4.4 per cent each year

M&S has lowered the price of over 50 organic products as part of a £4 million investment.
A range of everyday food items has been reduced, starting from just 70p for organic garlic and 90p for organic carrots.
Every product is certified to the Soil Association’s highest organic standards.
The offer arrives as customer insights reveal a growing interest in organic products among UK shoppers. According to Worldpanel, the organic market is growing 4.4 per cent year on year.
A recent report by the Soil Association found that 2026 was the 14th consecutive year of growth in the organics market, which now is worth £3.9 billion, double what it was a decade ago.
Research shows that around a third of M&S customers buy organic products occasionally.
By investing in lower prices, M&S aims to attract new customers into the category and encourage existing shoppers to visit more frequently.
In larger, newer Foodhalls, a multi-temperature zone for organic food will be rolled out for customers to shop frozen, chilled and store cupboard organic food in one place.
Alex Freudmann, managing director of M&S Food, said: “Organic is a category with huge potential. That’s why we’re investing over £4mn to lower prices on more than 50 organic staples, bringing together trusted M&S quality, accredited organic sourcing at great value.
“It’s another important step in making M&S accessible to more customers while supporting our ambition to grow the Food business,” he added.
The move comes as M&S reinvests to double the size of its food business and deliver on its ambition to become a true shopping list retailer.
