Leading producer Keelings Fresh International has harvested the first of its trial Cantaloupe melons from its Evesham nursery.
Steven Fagg, managing director, said the company was pleased with the quality of the fruit. "Particularly when one considers the poor light levels we encountered this summer,” he added.
Keelings partnered with seed manufacturer Clause to produce the melons. Keelings are experts in greenhouse production and therefore well placed to explore the potential for further crops.
“We recognised that only a company with the resources to invest, a production knowledge and a wide diversity of customers could deliver this project,” explained Fagg.
