Rushton’s, the fresh produce supplier based at New Covent Garden Market in south London, has been named Food Brand of the Year at the Caterer Supplier Awards, recognising its impact on London’s hospitality sector.

The award follows a nomination from longstanding customer Firmdale Hotels and celebrates Rushton’s commitment to quality, sustainability and close collaboration with chefs across the capital.

Judges highlighted the business’s ethical approach, strong grower relationships and modern hospitality mindset.

Operating from a BRC-accredited site at New Covent Garden Market, Rushton’s supplies more than 375 restaurants, pubs, bars, hotels and caterers across London, specialising in seasonal British produce alongside premium Italian specialities. The company has built a strong reputation as a trusted partner to chefs navigating one of the UK’s most competitive foodservice markets.

A key factor in the win was Rushton’s sustainability leadership, judges stressed. In November 2025, the business became the only B2B greengrocer in London to hold both ISO 14001 and Zero Waste to Landfill certification, giving hospitality operators greater confidence in responsible sourcing and environmental performance.

Rushton’s is owned by S Thorogood and Sons, a family business with farming roots dating back to 1922, and maintains close links to British growers, including its family farm in Essex. Produce such as Thorogood asparagus, grown using regenerative farming principles, exemplifies the provenance-led approach behind the brand.

Over the past year, Rushton’s has continued to grow its presence in London, strengthening relationships with chefs, investing in traceability and transparency, and expanding its offer through the acquisition of specialist mushroom supplier Mushroom Man.

Accepting the award, Rushton’s said the recognition reflects a shared achievement across its growers, customers and team. Director Will Thorogood said: “Winning Food Brand of the Year is a huge moment for us, but it’s also just part of a bigger journey. With over a century of heritage behind us, a clear focus on sustainability and a deep connection to London’s hospitality sector, we’re continuing to evolve what it means to be a modern fresh produce supplier.

“Our focus remains the same. To support chefs with the best possible produce, to strengthen the link between farm and kitchen and to keep pushing standards forward across the industry. This award belongs to our team, our growers and the chefs we work with every day. We’re just getting started.”
