Lincolnshire Field Products has supplied 1.25 mn pumpkins to Asda as household demand rises despite abnormal growing conditions
Spalding supplier Lincolnshire Field Products (LFP) has supplied 1.25mn pumpkins to Asda stores across the country, as new figures show a year-on-year rise in household demand ahead of Halloween.

Data from Worldpanel by Numerator found that 1.2 million households purchased a pumpkin in the four weeks to 4 October 2026, a 10 per cent increase on the same period last year
The increase comes as farmers have faced abnormal growing conditions for pumpkins this year, with record summer temperatures causing early ripening and smaller sizes.
Despite this challenge, LFP, based near Spalding, has supplied eight pumpkin and 12 edible squash lines to Asda this year.
Shoppers can choose from 11 varieties of orange pumpkins, including a ghostly white pumpkin and three types of munchkin pumpkins.
Munchkin pumpkins and edible squash lines are also available in Asda stores in Northern Ireland.
The grower cultivates 400 acres of pumpkins, alongside brassicas like broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage.
Martin Tate, commercial director of LFP, said: “As our largest customer, Asda is hugely important to LFP. We’re proud that our partnership is so strong and enduring, and that it allows us to play a part in protecting the sustainability of local supply chains – something that ensures consumers can get the quality local produce they want.”
LFP have worked with Asda for over 30 years, and have supplied pumpkins to the retailer for 15 years.
Rob Creswick, produce trading manager at Asda, said: “Martin and the team at LFP have been strong working partners for many years, and once again we’re excited to have their first-class pumpkins on Asda shelves across the country this October.”
Each pumpkin passes through a washing and polishing process before being sorted and labelled for delivery to stores.
“It’s wonderful to witness them go from the field in wooden bins, then through the washer and on out to be sorted and labelled, ready for the stores and on to people’s homes in time for Halloween,” Tate added.
