Wholesaler Albion Fine Foods has cut vehicle claims costs, improved temperature and location monitoring and driver compliance after introducing Webfleet’s fleet management software and integrated camera technology across its cold chain operations.

The company reported it cut vehicle claim costs per vehicle by 74 per cent, while claim numbers fell by one-third over the six months to 31 March 2026, compared with the same period in 2025.

The wholesaler operates 45 HGVs and 90 vans to deliver fresh, chilled and frozen produce to chefs, restaurants, hotels and hospitality businesses across the UK.

It uses Webfleet, a fleet management solution by Bridgestone, to monitor vehicle location, temperature data and driver compliance, and is integrated into Prolius, an AI fleet management software to provide vehicle data through an interface.

The software allows incidents such as vehicle breakdowns to be managed by showing the vehicle’s exact location, as well as identifying vehicles moving without a completed check, or an unroadworthy vehicle being driven.

The company has said using an integrated MANTIS camera system to provide video evidence in the light of the event of road traffic incidents has helped protect drivers from disputed claims.

Gavin Grant, transport manager at Albion Fine Foods, said: “Our main reason for using cameras is to show exactly what happens when an incident occurs.

“When you’re operating in busy areas such as London every night, this evidence can be vital,” he added.

The fleet management system has also improved visibility across the company’s cold chain by providing real-time temperature data from refrigerated vehicles.

“Previously, we were reliant on vehicle printouts, and often only knew there was an issue when the driver tried to print the data and nothing came out,” Grant said.

The system now provides a digital audit trail for temperature-controlled deliveries, supporting both internal compliance and customer requirements.

This also enables customers to access temperature history information for specific vehicles used for previous deliveries.

Lauren Moffat, national account manager at Vtec Solutions, said the system has been configured to address the company’s specific operational demands.

“Albion Fine Foods needed a system that could support the day-to-day demands of its fleet, from temperature-controlled deliveries and HGV compliance to driver behaviour and camera evidence.

“By combining Webfleet with FLEETiQ reporting, we are helping Gavin and his team turn fleet data into clearer insights to support compliance, safety and performance,” she added.
