New Zealand packhouse technology producer Compac has opened its ‘Kiwifruit Centre of Excellence’ in Papamoa, relacing the company's older facility in Te Puke

Founder Hamish Kennedy was on site to open the new centre that will staff 32 including ten service technicians, focusing on New Zealand’s kiwifruit and avocado industries, according to Sun Media.

“As our business continues to expand and develop globally, so has our thinking around how we deliver the best possible products and services to our customers,” Compac general manager Craig Hart told guests at the opening ceremony on 14 September. “No one knows more about high-performance post-harvest facilities than the New Zealand kiwifruit industry.

“The centre of excellence model brings us closer to the knowledge and experience of our customers and suppliers, so we can continue to provide the very best in innovative products and solutions for our local market.”

Compac now operates across 40 countries, with some 90 per cent of its operations outside of New Zealand.
