Unilever is trialing its 45-per cent fruit ice cream Wall's Solero Getfruit! at Tesco stores. But the product, which is claimed to help consumers reach their recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables a day, is viewed with scepticism by the WHO. A spokesman was reportedly quoted by Marketing describing Unilever's move as 'an attempt to hijack 5-a-day and use it in ways not entirely in keeping with the concept.' This is not the first time concern has been expressed that large manufacturers might be trying to jump on the 5-a-day bandwagon with unsuitable products. In November last year, campaign group Sustain highlighted several processed products and claims made by their brand owners which were not in line with national and international guidelines on 5-a-day.
