The World Trade Organisation (WTO) had been due to meet on December 1, where it was expected to adopt the appeal body finding that the USA's tariffs on steel imports were illegal. This meeting has been postponed.

The meeting will now take place on December 10. Consequently the earliest date for any EU retaliatory measures against the US will be December 15.

The list of products identified for retaliatory measures includes shelled walnuts, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens, grapefruit, grapes, apples (other than Golden Delicious and Granny Smith), pears and cherries. It is not yet known whether the Americans will respond to the WTO finding, what level of retaliation will be imposed, nor which products will be included in the final list for retaliatory measures.
