Peruvian-grown sweet chilli Roquito peppers will arrive on Tesco’s shelves next week, launched by food suppliers Leathams.
The firm said the move comes after consumers of the peppers, which have previously been available across other food channels, requested a retail presence.
The peppers are marinated in sugar cane brine and appear both sliced and as ‘Chilli Pepper Pearls’ . The RRP at Tesco will be £2.99.
Head of retail sales Sanjay Davda said demand for the product has steadily been growing over the years and it is the perfect time to extend its reach.
“We are really excited about the launch of our Roquito peppers into Tesco as it has long been one of the number one questions that we receive from consumers, especially through our social media channels,” he said.
He added: “In the last year there has been a 36 per cent growth in sales of Roquito across our food service channel.”
