Chegworth Valley: Completed harvest in two months

Organic apple grower Chegworth Valley has confirmed it will plant 9,000 new trees over the coming winter with another 13,000 to follow at the end of 2015.

The Harrietsham-based business, which has just completed its two-month harvest of 20 top fruit varieties over 75,000 trees, also said it has picked record volumes of Bramley apples this year.

“This year harvest has been very good and the trees have been laden with fruit,” said owner David Deme. “We’ve been very lucky to have ideal weather through the year from blossom in the spring right through to the fruit ripening in the summer and harvest over the last couple of months.”

Fruit is sold through Chegworth Valley’s shops in London and on site at the farm, via farmers’ markets and through home delivery.
