Having served over 40 years in the potato industry, the general manager of Branston’s Abernethy site, Eric Ritchie, is set to retire in July this year.

He will be replaced in the role by Kevin Imrie, who has worked at the Scottish site since 1990, rising from forklift driver to team leader, and subsequently to site manager in 1999.

Imrie has been through the Branston leadership development programme over a number of years, and according to the company, has 'proved himself to be an ideal candidate for the role'.

Ritchie said: “I have really enjoyed my 40 years in the potato industry with the last 11 years at Branston being both exciting and bringing new challenges. I am sad to leave at a time when the business has so many opportunities for the future but I will enjoy retirement knowing that with Kevin at the helm the Scottish team will continue to flourish.”

Imrie added: “I am delighted to succeed Eric Ritchie as general manager of the Scotland site, and look forward to the exciting opportunities ahead. We have a fantastic team of people here at Abernethy, and I look forward to working with them to ensure the continued success of the site.”

He will be responsible for the leadership of the Scotland site, and operations there – overseeing the site management team, procurement, agronomy, transport, factory operations, and HR to ensure that the Abernethy site continues to play a central role at Branston.

Imrie will be working closely with Eric over the next couple of months to ensure he hits the ground running on 25 July.
