The British Growers Association has made a number of changes to its team as it looks to tackle the numerous challenges facing the trade.

The organisation, which says it is also looking to add value for the industry and identify new opportunities, has also adopted a new strapline - 'Fresh thinking - growing opportunities'.

Among a number of moves, James Richardson will be heading up the BGA's finance operation, supported by Karen Smith, who takes over as management accountant.

Coral Russell has joined as crop association executive, and will work with Jayne Dyas on crop associations.

There have also been changes in the administration team, with Alison Frith recently joining to work with chief executive Jack Ward, and operations director Lisa Eagles taking on a broad range of responsibilities.

Peter Crowe, who has extensive experience in the fresh produce industry, has been appointed as communications consultant. He will be working with Ward on a part-time basis to get the organisation’s message across.

Ward said: “I am very confident that with the new look team, we can develop and extend the range of services we can offer, create efficiencies and provide a highly cost-effective service to our member organisations.”
