Former operations manager at Integrated Service Solutions (ISS) Wayne Milne has joined fruit grower Newmafruit International as managing director.

Milne, who has reached MD level aged 34, has also become a director of Newmafruit Farms. He replaces former MD Tony Frankham, who stepped down in October 2016 after almost six years in the role.

He said: 'It gives me great pleasure that Melvyn [Newman] has entrusted me to lead the nextstage of growth and evolution of such a great company.
'Newmafruit has been growing and packingquality produce for many years and we intend to continue for many more.I fully intendto continueinvesting in our farms and facilities to ensure that we can continue to offerour customers quality products at the right price. and further mapping out many more years of success in what is a very exciting but challenging industry.'

Milne said he believeshis appointment has come at a time when the UK fruit industry is at a crossroads of change and development. 'With Brexit, the uncertainty around grower POs and the issues around seasonal labour, there is a real challenge ahead,' he added.
