Neame Lea Nursery has unveiled a raft of trial NPD as it continues to extend its reach beyond ornamentals.

The Spalding-based grower, which launched into micro greens last year, showcased a range of potential new lines at the London Produce Show this week. It included a superfood salad bowl; an egg, spinach and micro green snack pack; a mint, apple and wheatgrass smoothie; and a mint and sage herb tea infusion.

'We are looking to amalgamate microgreens with other superfoods,' explained commercial manager Richard Priestley. 'We are seeing more and more people looking at healthy eating and it's gone beyond a trend.'

As well as the products it grows itself, Neame Lea is working with a joint venture company in Kenya to grow snap peas and beans, and the company is also looking to highlight its sustainability credentials across its operations.

While there are no listings for the new lines as yet, Priestley said the company is open to launching them either as a branded offer or within supermarket own-label tiers.
