Albert Bartlett Purple Majesty Halloween

The limited-edition bags will be available for two weeks at Lidl and Morrisons

Potato supplier Albert Bartlett has created limited edition Halloween packaging for its purple variety Purple Majesty.

The orange and purple bags feature a haunted house and display two recipe suggestions for children’s meals and family Halloween parties: Witch’s Finger Fries and Vampire Sausage and Mash.

Purple Majesty will be available at both Lidl and Morrisons from 23 October for a limited two-week period, as well as being sold on a permanent basis at Wholefoods and Ocado.

Albert Bartlett head of Marketing Michael Jarvis said: “Our Albert Bartlett Purple Majesty potatoes are grown in the UK and are purple through and through – if you boil them, the water turns purple – so they are petrifyingly perfect for scary Halloween meals.

“We’ve given a couple of recipes and we’re sure people will have many more terrifying tattie ideas.”

The Purple Majesty variety was bred by agronomists, who achieved the rich shade of purple by crossing existing potatoes with naturally occurring red and purple skins.
