Lea Valley charity ball

Lea Valley Growers' charity ball was attended by 300 guests

A charity ball hosted by the Lea Valley Growers has raised £25,000 for the Teens Unite Charity.

Over 300 growers, family and friends attended the association’s first social event for over 20 years. Hosted by BBC Radio broadcaster Roberto Perrone, guests enjoyed authentic Italian food, live entertainment, games and a charity auction run by Valley Grown Salads’ Jimmy Russo.

Auction prizes included a House of Commons bottle of whiskey signed by Prime Minister Theresa May, which fetched £600.

Secretary of Lea Valley Growers, Lee Stiles, gave an address at the ball and thanked its many sponsors and auction prize donators. A cheque presentation ceremony with Teens Unite will take place in the next few weeks, and will be attended bythe Lea Valley cucumber mascot.

The association said it is looking to make the ball an annual event for 300 members and guests, and said it would welcome any assistance and suggestions for next year.
