Jo-Anne Baptie Greenvale with Vibes Award

Jo-Anne Baptie with Greenvale's award at the Vibes Scottish Business Awards

Potato supplier Greenvale has scooped an award for the environmental strategy at its production site in Duns in the Scottish borders.

The producer landed the Management Large Award at the Vibes Scottish Business Awards for businesses improving the sustainability of Scotland’s natural environment.

Greenvale’s operation in Duns was scrutinised over three intensive rounds of judging, with the company required to demonstrate its achievements in environmental best practice.

The award follows another environmental award win at The Green Apple Business Awards earlier in November.

Jo-Anne Baptie, Greenvale’s health and safety and environmental manager said: “I am delighted that our company’s environmental strategy, and the achievements that we have delivered to date, have been so widely recognised.

“As a business we continue to challenge ourselves and our commitment to environmental best practises, which is reflected in our challenging Green20 strategy that we are currently working through.”

As part of its Green20 strategy, Greenvale has so far reduced its carbon dioxide emissions by 30 per cent and its water consumption by 50 per cent, as well diverting 90 per cent of its waste from landfill, according to its website.
