Fairtrade wants brands and businesses to share stories of Fairtrade producers

Suppliers, retailers and consumers are being invited to ‘Come on in to Fairtrade’ as part of the organisation’s 2018 campaign and Fairtrade Fortnight.

Taking place between 26 and 11 March 2018, Fairtrade Fortnight wants businesses to demonstrate why they support the certification and the impact it can have.

Brands are being encouraged to share stories that give a voice to producers, and shoppers are invited to understand the world and processes behind popular Fairtrade products such as bananas, coffee, gold and cotton.

The Fairtrade Foundation has created a range of resources for those wanting to get involved either in-store, promoting on social media or supporting a local campaign group.

According to the organisation, around nine out of 10 consumers trust Fairtrade, 78 per cent trust the Fairtrade mark and 21 per cent actively choose Fairtrade when they shop.

Fairtrade Foundation commercial director Euan Venters said: “Fairtrade Fortnight is the perfect opportunity for businesses to talk about why they support Fairtrade and the impact it can have. Equally it’s the ideal time for companies thinking about working with Fairtrade to start getting involved.

“In 2017 we saw an amazing level of engagement from businesses during Fairtrade Fortnight – we hope even more will get involved this year. There’s never been a more important time to stand with producers – and to welcome more people – supporters, producers, businesses – into Fairtrade.”
