Tesco’s head of global online operations Adrian Letts is leaving the supermarket to become retail chief executive at Ovo Energy, the UK’s biggest independent energy supplier.
Letts, who has been managing director of online at Tesco since 2015, has been in charge of e-commerce across grocery, general merchandising and clothing.
Under Letts, the retailer became the first UK supermarket to launch nationwide same-day grocery deliveries, also introducing one-hour deliveries in London. Tesco is the world’s largest online grocery retailer and e-commerce is its fastest-growing sales channel.
Prior to joining supermarket chain, Letts was an entrepreneur, co-founding digital and on-demand TV service Blinkbox in 2006, where he led as chief operations officer before it was sold to Tesco in 2011.
Stephen Fitzpatrick, founder and chief executive of OVO, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Adrian to the team. He is one of Europe’s stand out talents in the digital economy and is joining OVO at a time of profound change in the energy sector across the world.”
