Aldi's new £50m Distribution Centre in Sheppey

Aldi has unveiled a new £50 million distribution centre in Kent to serve its growing customer base in the South East.

The new site will serve 60 stores from its 60,000 metre squared premises, employing more than 400 people. Aldi’s centre is part of new expansion plans to open 130 new stores in 2019 and 2020.

The German discounter has also extended its target to have 1,200 stores across the UK by the end of 2025.

Ben Shotter, managing director for the Isle of Sheppey Regional Distribution Centre, said: “The new Sheppey distribution centre significantly increases our capacity and allows us to open more stores across the South East to cater for the growing number of shoppers switching to Aldi.

“Although some of our newest and most popular stores are situated in the South East, there are still many towns and cities where we have a limited presence or none at all. This is something that we are looking to address in the coming years.”
