NZ new World store

Foodstuffs North Islands has added a new store format to its operations with the launch of Fresh Collective in Auckland’s Mairangi Bay.

The New Zealand supermarket co-operative opened the small-store chain at the weekend, which will focus on selling fresh produce.

Fresh Collective by New World will eventually expand to around ten stores, all within the Auckland region.

The New Worldwebsitedescribes the Fresh Collective store as having an “impressive selection of fresh fruit and veges”.

“In store you’ll find loads of meal inspiration - from hot meals to 'Just Cook It' dinner kits, fresh produce, bakery and meat to top deals on grocery essentials,” the site says. “Plus, our in-house barista serves great coffee and tasty treats.”

The new format chain adds to Foodstuffs North Island’s Pak’nSave, New World, Four Square, Gilmours and Liquorland operations.

Foodstuffs North island chief executive Chris Quinn told the NZ Herald that the format was different to anything they had done in the past.

'The whole of the centre of the store will be where work is done to prepare products for customers so customers will see the butcher in the theatre of that,' Quin said, adding that the Fresh Collective stores will be both new premises and conversions of existing store spaces, similar to the size of its Four Square stores.
