TH 7 eleven store

Indonesian retailer PT Modern Internasional has announced it is closing its 7-Eleven stores in Indonesia after just eight years in the country.

The company cited “limited resources” for the closures, which will see around 161 stores stop operating.

While PT Modern Internasional owns the 7-Eleven franchise in Indonesia, Japan’s Seven & I Holdings is the parent company of the convenience store chain which operates in 18 countries.

A Seven & I Holdings spokesperson told Reuters that the company would search for someone else to take on the franchise in Indonesia.

'Indonesia is an important country for us. This is not the end for 7-Eleven's business,' they told the news agency.
