AgroBerries is entering Asia through a joint venture in Laos, partnering with Mekong Blue to grow Mountain Blue Orchards blueberry varieties

AgroBerries Group has today (25 June) announced that it is expanding into Lao PDR through a joint venture with the blueberry operator Mekong Blue, a Laos-based berry platform founded by Singaporean Mekong Blue.
The move marks AgroBerries’ first farming development in the region and includes a 150ha blueberry project, with 30ha already planted.
Earlier in the week, AgroBerries revealed that it had signed new licensing agreements with MBO to grow and market their blueberry genetics across expanded global territories from 2027.
The first commercial volumes from Laos are expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, supplying markets across Asia through the group’s BerryWorld Asia division with selected premium Mountain Blue Orchards (MBO) blueberry varieties.
“This is an exciting development for the group,” said Juan Pablo Lavín, global head of farming for AgroBerries.
”Having invested in our genetics portfolio and expanded our farming operations across South and Central America and Africa over recent decades, we are delighted to be working with a capable and experienced partner as part of our growth strategy for the Asian market.”
Max Emden, Head of BerryWorld Asia added: “Laos offers a unique opportunity to supply the Asian market with high quality blueberries during a highly attractive window.
”By combining a strategic origin with a leading genetics programme, we are well positioned to build a premium offering and accelerate our growth across the region.”
