China has announced changes to its port charges, reducing charges for night and national holiday pilotage and towage services, according to JOC.com.
The Ministry of Transport and National Development and Reform Commission has also prohibited China’s port operators from imposing fees on some services in an attempt to increase container shipping to the country amid a slowdown in volume growth.
While China’s leading ports had been growing at 3 per cent year-on-year, it dropped to 1 per cent since in the past two months, reports the shipping news site.
