Tech-forward avocado brand aims to reshape the category by improving consumer confidence while creating new value for growers across the supply chain

In early-2026, Australian agribusiness Donovan Group launched Évo Hass, a branded avocado utilising AI and traceability technology to help consumers identify ripeness. Alongside the ripeness scanner, which utilises a scanable QR code, the model combines high-quality Australian and global avocado supply with retail-ready branding, consumer education, analytics, POSM, and packaging innovation all aimed at providing a premium product and boosting grower returns.
“Like many fresh produce categories, avocados have traditionally been sold as a commodity, leaving growers with limited opportunity to capture the value they create,” explains Évo CEO Troy Agosti. “At the same time, consumers often lack confidence when purchasing avocados because they can’t easily determine when the fruit will be ready to eat.”
By addressing these concerns, Agosti believes consumers will be willing to choose a more premium avocado option, creating additional value that can flow back through the supply chain.
“Rather than creating another avocado brand, we wanted to build a complete value platform connecting growers, exporters, retailers and consumers,” he says. “The digital ecosystem underpins better buying decisions while creating measurable value across the supply chain.”
And following successful in-market trials in Malaysia and Hong Kong, the concept is proving it can develop into a scalable international platform.
“The programmes quickly demonstrated that consumers actively engaged with the technology and that retailers saw value in offering a differentiated avocado programme,” Agosti says. “Malaysia has now progressed into regular commercial shipments, while Hong Kong has expanded [its programme] following a successful retail launch.”
International expansion continues to gather momentum for the new brand, with Singapore and Saudi Arabia scheduled to launch in August. Évo has also expanded its grower network, with supply partnerships being developed from Australia, New Zealand, Morocco and South America to support close to year-round availability.
