Dutch Fresh produce group Frankort & Koning has looked to further tap into the east Asian market by launching a sales office in Hong Kong with its partner, Brazilian company Agricola Famosa.

According to Frankort & Koning commercial director Leon van den Hombergh, the move is designed to allow the company's worldwide suppliers to tap into the potentially lucrative markets of the far east.

'The main purpose (of the office) will be to cover the far east markets,' he told Eurofruit. 'We already supply several clients there – we mainly concentrate on the Chinese market, but there is potential in Thailand, Malaysia and Korea as well.

'We would like to provide our global partners with an entrance point to these markets, thus sharing the benefits with each other,' he added.
