Shipments from key production region in China are tipped to increase by 30 per cent

The lychee season in China has begun and reports from key productions regions have predicted a rise in exports.

According to Yangcheng Evening News, an export season launch was held for the key production region of Guangdong Province on 18 May in Guangzhou with Sinolychee Agriculture Group sending its first 60 tonnes shipment of fruit to North America.

Chen Yaohua, chairman of Sinolychee, said demand for high quality imported fruit had grown in North American and Guangdong lychees had won over local consumers with their unique taste and excellent quality.

“In recent years, lychees exported by Sinolychee have been exported to markets such as Europe, America, the Middle East, Sout-Eeast Asia, and South America. Despite the complex and changing international trade environment this year, we are still confident that we can maintain stable growth,” he said.

“It is expected that the export volume of lychees this year will increase by 30 per cent.”

Exports are also commencing in other regions of Guangdong with 10 tonnes of early-ripening lychee varieties set to be shipped from Maoming to Australia after passing customs quarantine.
