Australian citrus cage

Indonesia’s government will release 700 containers of Australian fruit and vegetables, including large volumes of citrus, which have been held up in ports there for the last two weeks.

According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Indonesia’s director general of trade Deddy Saleh has said new import regulations, which contributed to the detainment, will not be implemented until next month.

Alistair Scott of Australian fresh produce exporter Hannay Douglas told the media organisation Indonesia was clamping down on imports of Australian citrus in response to reports oranges were being labelled as mandarins, which incur a lower tariff.
