The Global Cherry Summit 2024 was held in Chile on 25 April. As a pioneer in China’s fruit industry, a leading importer of Chilean cherries and one of the summit’s top sponsors, Joy Wing Mau Group and its Joyvio brand of cherries had a strong presence at the event. The Global Cherry Summit is a key event in the cherry industry, attracting thousands of companies, organisations and industry representatives this year. Konna Mu, general manager of Joy Wing Mau’s international procurement platform, attended the summit and the roundtable forum to actively explore cooperation opportunities with growers, cherry associations, importers and exporters.

Mu outlined the opportunities and challenges facing China’s cherry industry, sharing with delegates Joy Wing Mau’s strength in the cherry business and the group’s endeavours to promote sustainable industry growth and smooth distribution in domestic and international markets.

Direct shipping service

Over the past few seasons, Joy Wing Mau has worked to propel sales of Chilean cherries in China by cooperating with the group’s upstream and downstream partners. In January, Joy Wing Mau entered into in-depth cooperation with global shipping giant Maersk to develop a customised service for transporting cherries Chilean cherries directly to China.

This logistics breakthrough helped reignite demand for high-quality cherries among Chinese consumers and set an example of innovative fruit trade models. The service was also selected by Xinhua News Agency as a case study for high-quality trade development in 2024.

During the summit, Joy Wing Mau showcased its numerous achievements to demonstrate the depth and breadth of its participation in boosting China-Chile trade and economic cooperation. By promoting cooperation with cherry growers, upgrading the global logistics chain, building a new mode of rapid customs clearance via multiple ports, and providing a powerful omnichannel distribution system and end-to-end efficient distribution services, JWM has been creating an increasing number of new opportunities for Chilean cherries.

Joy Wing Mau has also repeatedly set new records in terms of the speed of shipping cherries from Chile to China while its high-end Joyvio brand of cherries continues to invigorate the Chinese market.
