Alpaca Service will also take over the role of the Cherry Express during the Chilean cherry export season
MSC is to launch a new ocean service in September 2025, offering faster transit times between the Far East and the west coast of South America. The new Alpaca route includes direct connections between Ningbo (China), Busan (South Korea), and Callao (Peru), positioning itself as one of the fastest options on the market for this maritime route.
The service will operate weekly with direct calls at Chilean ports. It also seeks to strengthen connectivity with Bolivia through the terminals in Arica and Iquique.
Designed for the Chilean cherry export season, the Alpaca service will also take over the role of Cherry Express within the MSC network. In this context, the shipping line said it will use its Smart Reefer technology to ensure temperature control, traceability, and the integrity of refrigerated cargo throughout the entire logistics chain.
The complete itinerary will be as follows: Ningbo (China) – Busan (South Korea) – Callao (Peru) – Arica (Chile) – Iquique (Chile) – San Antonio (Chile) – Nansha (China) – Hong Kong (China) and Ningbo (China).
