Indonesia has become the latest market to give the green light to imports of fresh Peruvian blueberries.

The decision follows a technical visit by an Indonesian delegation led by the head of the Quarantine Authority (IQA), to verify the sanitary and quality standards of farms and packhouses in Pisco.

In a statement on LinkedIn, industry association Proarándanos said: “This is excellent news for the industry. Thanks to Senasa Peru’s work in phytosanitary management and the commitment of industry associations, today we celebrate the opening of the Indonesia market for our fresh blueberries.

“With the signing of the bilateral protocol, the entry of this Peruvian fruit into a market of more than 281mn consumers is officially authorised, opening new opportunities for our producers and exporters.”
