Russian Bank VTB has announced the assets sale of JFC Group’s Ecuadorian banana plantations obtained after the Russian importer declared bankruptcy, according to Banastat.
Japanese company Sumifru, a subsidiary of Sumimoto Japan, purchased the 2,100ha of banana plantations in July 2015.
JFC filed for bankruptcy in 2012, with VTB acquiring 100 per cent of its shares of the Fideicomiso Pacific Plantations before selling them to Sumifru in July 2015.
