Backed by Taiwan’s Council of Agriculture of the Legislative Yuan and the Kaohsiung City Government, the first Taiwan International Fruit and Vegetable Show (TFVS) will run on 10-12 November at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center, alongside the second Taiwan International Fisheries and Seafood Show.

Co-organisers MY Exhibition and Sphere Exhibits Malaysia expect the events will draw a total of 600 exhibitors from 16 countries and 8,000 professional buyers to the venue, and hope they will help expand business and cultivate new markets overseas for Taiwan’s agriculture sector.

Under the theme ‘Innovative Industry Chain’, the show will focus on the advantages of the island’s agricultural technology sector and provide insight for making Taiwan a quality one-stop service centre.

Taiwan’s Agriculture and Food Agency will host the ‘Fruits and Vegetables of Taiwan Pavilion’, to showcase the island’s premium fresh produce offerings, as well as the latest farming methods, agricultural machinery and techniques. Representatives from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, South Africa and the US will participate in the event’s Overseas Zone.

Alongside the show, seminars on international fruit marketing will be conducted with international keynote speakers from South Africa, Malaysia, Thailand and other countries, to give an overview of the current state of the market and insight on marketing skills in their home countries.

Asia is expected to see the greatest increase demand for fresh produce among global markets in the future. While emerging markets in ASEAN countries have helped to drive Taiwan’s export growth, the organisers hope the upcoming show can highlight the island’s advanced agricultural technologies and extensive fruit product range and experience, as well as boosting international competitiveness and environmental sustainability.
