Jiunn Shih, chief marketing officer of kiwifruit supplier Zespri, has announced he is to leave the company.

“After nine years, I am closing an amazing chapter at Zespri,” he wrote in a statement on LinkedIn.

Shih, who was based at the group’s Singapore office, started out as general manager of global marketing in 2016, and soon took on additional responsibilities for areas including innovation R&D, sustainability, corporate strategy, and sales strategy.

“When I joined in 2016, we set out to double sales and build a world-class brand in a commoditised category,” he commented. “Together, we did so much more than that. We more than doubled Zespri sales to over NZ$5bn, built the number one fruit brand across our 15 core markets, and embedded sustainability into the business strategy. All leading to significant growth in grower returns.”

He added: “What I’ll cherish the most are the people: growers, colleagues and partners, whose passion and belief made this journey unforgettable. You’ve made me a better leader, a better friend and a better person.

“Thank you for the trust, the memories, and above all, the purpose. I leave with gratitude and pride for what we accomplished together.”
