New Zealand kiwifruit marketer Zespri says it expects continued growth in supply to lift its annual exports by around 10 per cent to 236mn trays in 2030, from around 214mn trays in 2025.

The company’s newly published Five-Year Outlook predicts strong demand for its NZ production, supported by a premium brand position and ongoing investment in marketing.rubyred

“The demand outlook for Zespri kiwifruit is positive, built on a high-quality, great-tasting product, sustained investment in sales and marketing activities, outstanding supply chain execution and continued promotion of the health and nutritional benefits of our kiwifruit,” the company said in the report.

“Our focus, as we look ahead, is to build brand-led demand, transform our global supply chain and create the product portfolio of the future so we can continue to deliver strong value to growers and the wider industry.”

To do this, it added, the company will continue to meet customer and consumer demands by “giving the market what it wants,

including 12-month supply”.

“We are operating in an increasingly competitive and complex marketplace and our ability to maximise returns is subject to maintaining our category leadership position, including being able to hold shelf space year round.”

Although it saw positives in terms of rising demand in Asia and overall strong consumer interest in healthy eating, it also noted that its business model would face various challenges, including a complex geopolitical and economic environment, regulatory pressures, competing supply, and sustainability pressures.
