Discounter drops the price of 10 fresh produce items by up to 36 per cent

Aldi has announced a raft of price cuts on fruit and vegetables in a move it says will boost healthy eating during the cost-of-living crisis.

Ten products are included in the price drop, from avocados, red peppers and easy peelers to baking potatoes and sweetcorn. The discounter noted that the move is the latest of hundreds of prices that it has cut recently, including household staples such as milk and pasta.

Shoppers will see prices on the fruit and veg items drop by up to 36 per cent, and come in addition to any fresh produce included within Aldi Super 6 promotions.

The full list of reduced items includes sweetcorn (2pk), iceberg lettuce, baking potatoes (4pk), radish (240g), watermelon, avocado, red pepper, premium easy peelers (600g), flat peaches (4pk) and unwaxed lemons (4pk).

Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK, said: “We know that shoppers are having to make hard choices at the moment, which is why we’re passing savings on to our customers anywhere we can.

“We know it can be difficult to access food that is both nutritious and affordable, so we recognise that lowering the costs of healthy food and veg staples like these is so important right now.

“We’re continuing to see high numbers of people switching to Aldi from every other supermarket as they look to save money and our promise remains that we will always offer straightforward, honest prices that we’ll keep low for our customers, every day.”
