Convenience specialist Caledonian Produce is to undergo a major expansion plan.

Fresh prepared food producer Bakkavör is increasing its convenience salads production at its Caledonian Produce site in Bo’ness, Scotland.

The move follows the conversion of a nearby warehouse it acquired in 2009 to a food production facility which will create up to 60 new jobs at the site, located 15 miles north-west of Edinburgh.

The decision takes the total number of employees at the site to more than 1,000. Caledonian Foods was acquired by the Icelandic group in 1993.

The production of 10 new product lines for its major UK retail customer will begin in January, with further products expected to launch in April 2012.
