BGA appoints new chair

Phillip Effingham, technical director of Marshalls has been announced as the new chairman of the Brassica Growers’ Association.

Mel Miles, also of Marshalls, will chair of the Brassica Growers’ Association Research & Development Committee meetings.

The Association said its main focus is currently the R&D requirements of the brassica industry, which is led by the R&D committee. To date it has instigated several new R&D projects, with limited Horticultural Development Council and government funds, and has ensured the necessary SOLA programme is in place.

The BGA also helps organise a series of technical days addressing specific brassica issues as well as its biennial brassica conference, which will take place next January.

Moving forward, the Association said that, in order to continue to represent the British brassica industry, it was essential that its work involved as many companies as possible. Membership is open to both growers and allied industry representatives.
